Dress Up Fedora with Apps /// Part 4

This article deals with Installation of various applications which are a must in our day-to-day life activities. Dress up Your Fedora with various Apps to make it look and feel good.

NOTE :Switch to Superuser Mode using "su" command .

  • MP3 and Audio Players :

Rhythmbox music player :


Rhythmbox is the Default Music Player which comes with Fedora GNOME Desktop . If it is not there Install it using

# yum install gstreamer rhythmbox




To Add MP3 and other Audio support Type in

# yum install gstreamer-plugins-good gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugly

Amarok :


Amarok is the best MP3/Audio player for KDE . This Player comes in-built with Lyrics support .Has very good Play-list management capability . Has very good User Interface . You can install it in GNOME too.
Type in the following command at the terminal:

# yum install amarok amarok-extras-nonfree
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XMMS :


 XMMS is an audio player which is no longer used now, but if you still want to install it. Type in the following at the terminal:

# yum install xmms xmms-libs xmms-mp3
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Audacious :

 Audacious is another Audio Player similar to Winamp 2.x.
It has got very good audio playback capability. Install it by typing:


# yum install audacious audacious-plugins-nonfree-*

  • DVD and video :
In order to play DVD's ,you need codecs .To install them Type in

# yum install libdvdcss libdvdread libdvdnav lsdvd libdvbps

Totem Player :

 Totem Player has got good Video Playback capability. It can be installed using :

# yum install totem-xine totem-xine-plparser xine-lib-extras xine-lib-extras-nonfree

VLC:


 VLC as we all know is the best video player which supports almost every Video and Audio format you think of: Can be installed using :

# yum install vlc

MPlayer/SMlayer : 



Mplayer and SMplayer are very good in Video playback and supports a lot number of codecs . Can be installed by :

# yum install mplayer smplayer

Kaffeine:



  Kaffeine has got very good GUI and also Video Playback is Very good and Enjoyable. This being my personal choice for DVD Playback.Can be installed by :

# yum install kaffeine
# yum install xine-lib-extras xine-lib-extras-nonfree

Avidemux :



Avidemux is one of the best Multimedia editor which comes with a lot of in-built features . Install it as :

# yum install avidemux

These are some of the Multimedia apps which make your ride in Fedora a Pleasurable Experience .
