MANDRIVA SPRING

With Mandriva Spring released out there this month , Everybody are eager to catch a glimpse of this distro. Mandriva Spring keeps up all the expectations of the users.

I TRIED MANDRIVA OUT THERE AND COMPARED IT WITH LATEST RELEASE COPY OF MUCH HYPED MICROSOFT PRODUCT WINDOWS 7 .

I TRIED IT ON AN ACER LAPTOP HAVING THE FOLLOWING CONFIGURATIONS.

3 GB RAM .

320 GB HARD DISK.

INTEL MOBILE GRAPHICS CARD.

2.2 GHz FREQUENCY /CYCLE.

I WAS SHOCKED TO TABULATE THE RESULTS.

1.Windows 7 comes with a sleek glossy design with1280X720 high resolution default wallpaper which is that of a fish in the sea.Windows has carried the aero theme used in the vista version. Its looks are treat to the eye and everything looks clean neat and tidy. It has inbuilt gadgets for the desktop. Its perfect in its looks.

Whereas Mandriva Spring is not so as sleek and glossy as windows 7 but has got average looks which actually looks good and stunning. It also comes with a default wallpaper same as that of windows 7 but has lesser resolution that that of windows 7.

RESULT: LOOKS

WINDOWS 7 10/10.

MANDRIVA SPRING 7/10.

2.Windows 7 takes around 30 minutes to completely get installed. It occupies a 16 GB of hard disk ,this is where its drawback comes into picture.Due to huge loaded inbuilt drivers it actually slows down the speed of all the applications being run.Its installation time is also too high.

Whereas Mandriva spring takes the upper hand over the windows 7 ,In the sense that it takes around 15 minutes to complete its installation, and further occupies only 3GB of hard disk space.

But as usual the partitioning of hard disk is simpler in windows than we find it in mandriva.

RESULT: FUNCTIONALITY

WINDOWS7 6/10

MAMDRIVA SPRING 8/10

ONE OF MAIN ADVANTAGE OF MANDRIVA IS THAT IT IS ABSOLUTELY FREE OF COST WHEREAS YOU HAVE TO PAY AROUND 13,000 FOR WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE VERSION.

BY THESE RESULTS WE DEFINITELY CONCLUDE BY SAYING MANDRIVA SPRING IS BEST AS COMPARED WITH WINDOWS 7 IN TERMS OF ITS COST EFFECTIVENESS AND FUNCTIONALITY ...
