NAUTILUS- GREEN SUPERCOMPUTER

NAUTILUS - THE GREEN SUPERCOMPUTER
NAUTILUS, located in Warsaw has been declared as the most power efficient high performance supercomputer.

It manages to put out 536 megaflops per Watt of power or 536 million computing operations per Watt second.

It has been number one in the annual “GREEN 50” since July 2008.

Nautilus is economical mainly because of the processors; they are IBM PowerXcells, which specialize in Vector calculations, Perfect for simulating current properties which is exactly what it is intended to do.

Roadrunner, the current fastest supercomputer, is not nearly as power efficient – it manages only 444.94 megaflops per Watt.
